Great news from the classroom!

 A teacher in Volusia County, Florida reports the following good news from her classes of 11th and 12th grade students who did not pass the FCAT:

"I love this book because it deals with issues to which students can relate. Articles concern recent events which the students have knowledge of. This means they become quickly engaged in the article....

The graphing is a great activity for students because it helps them create a picture of the data that may be part of the article. Once they have completed the graph they can retell the story using the data.....The graphic organizer is a great tool that I use to review the story.

The teacher's guide has allowed me to work at a comfortable pace with my students. I can work in all the strategies and more if I wish."
