We have received the following update from a teacher in California who used ^PWImpact! during summer school 2009, and is currently using the materials in her classes:

" My 11th graders just re-took the CAHSEE and are feeling really confident that they passed this time. They are telling me things like, 'Why didn't anyone ever tell us this before...' in regards to how to read non-fiction text (and fiction for that matter), approaching the writing prompts, etc. They think I have some secret to share. But the good news is, they have built their confidence and it is flowing over into their other classes.

 Today we started the "Riding Dubs" unit and I was getting quite an education. They were so happy to "teach" me their lingo!I even had one student, who I hear very little from, perk up and talk my ear off. I asked them what they like about the materials and what suggestions they had, and all they could say is "they are great." One student said, "This guy sure knows students!" I have never seen a group of students, mostly receiving failing marks most of their lives, perk up and want to read and discuss and write. :)"

This is wonderful news!
